OPINION TRIBUNE
DATED DECEMBER 5, 1973:

Franklin Thomas Hummel, 63, passed away in Co. Bluffs on Nov. 26.

He was born to Jesse and Etta Pearl Hummel near Imogene, in Fremont Co. on Dec. 30, 1909, and lived in Strahan, Tabor and Malvern during his childhood and youth. He attended Malvern High School and the University of Omaha.

Hank was married to Nellie Clay in Omaha, on July 22, 1935, and they were the parents of three children, David, Gloria and Thomas.

Most of the Hummel’s married life was spent in Mills Co., with one year in California and two in Shenandoah, Ia. Early in life he was employed in aircraft plants, but for the past 28 years he farmed his property south of Glenwood.

Funeral services for Mr. Hummel were held on Nov. 29 at the Peterson Mortuary. Rev. Clyde Harmon conducted the services with Mrs. Frances Dashner and Mrs. Herman Vohs providing the musical accompaniment.

Mrs. Cletis Haynie, Mrs. Don Riggins and Mrs. Harry Hoover were the flower ladies. Serving as casket bearers were Larry Garrett, Cletis Haynie, Art Goodman, Peter Lorenzo, Don Riggins and Harry Hoover.

Mr. Hummel is survived by his wife, Nellie; three children, David of Glendale, Ariz., Mrs. Gloria Wilson of Glenwood and Thomas of Farragut; six grandsons; one granddaughter; and three sisters, Mrs. Osie Schiermeier of Glenwood, Miss Ruth Hummel of Chicago and Mrs. Vera Swenson of Denver, Colo.
