DATED JAN. 3, 1979:

Services were Dec. 27 for Drayton Slaughter, 65, Glenwood, who died Dec. 24 at a Council Bluffs hospital.

The son of John Elijah and Clara Vida Andrews (Slaughter) was born July 6, 1913 in Mills County. He was a longtime farmer in the Hillsdale Community. On May 29, 1938, he was married to Ruby Powles. She preceded him in death in May, 1974.

Services were at the Peterson Mortuary with the Rev. Robert Hamilton, minister of the Hillsdale United Methodist Church, officiating.

Mrs. Ruth Picker, organist, provided music.

Flower ladies were Mrs. Pearl Jackson, Mrs. Genevieve Raine, Mrs. Opal Stille and Mrs. Arlene Hilton.

Honorary bearers were Don Edwards, Gerald Fickel, Ralph Schoening and Kenneth Graves.

Bearers were Clyde Shook Jr., Walter Stille, Art Thieschafer, Carl Buch, Robert Hopp and Ben Jackson.

Burial was in the Glenwood Cemetery.

Survivors include two sons, John of Albert Lea, Minn., and Roger of Glenwood; three grandchildren; mother-in-law, Mrs. Nellie Powles of Glenwood; three sisters, Janice (Burdette) Hunt and Mrs. Ardis (Lawrence) Pace, both of Glenwood and Mrs. Virginia (Amos) Jensen of Tabor.
