Charles Lee Hunt was born Sept. 29, 1872 in Hamilton County, Nebraska, the son of Richard and Mary Ellen Hunt.

When he was 14 years old, he, his mother and brother came to Mills County in a covered wagon. He spent the rest of his life in Mills County engaged in farming.

On March 30, 1892, he was united in marriage to Cora E. Moore. Nine children were born to them. One son and one daughter died in infancy and one daughter, Mrs. May Johnson, passed away Feb. 8, 1930.

He was a member of the West Oak Baptist Church, the Independent Order of Odd Fellows and the Rebekah Lodge, both of Silver City.

He had a host of friends and neighbors and in spite of his illness, fought a heroic battle to say with his loved ones.

He died at his home Oct. 31, at the age of 80 years, one moth and two days after several months illness.

He leaves to mourn, his wife Cora, five sons, Lyle and Burdette of Glenwood, Ed of Red Oak, Bacil of Oakland and George of Henderson; one daughter, Marjorie Blackman of Malvern, 25 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Two of his grandsons are serving in the U. S. Army, Harry in Korea and Keith in Germany.

Funeral services were held Monday at 2 p.m. at the Methodist church in Silver City with the Raynor funeral home in charge.

The Rev. O. L. Reep and the Rev. H. G. Parker officiated with burial in the Silver City cemetery.

Richard Goy sang accompanied by Mrs. R. P. Galt.

Casket bearers were Jim Bailey, Guy Custer, Emil Arp, Drayton Slaughter, George Mintle and Ralph Mayberry.

Flower ladies were Mesdames Virgil Hunt, Don Hunt, Byron Bradley, Robert Hunt, Jack Phifer, Dallas Moore and Keith Hunt.

Ushers were Rew and George Burgoin.
