This life sketch was read:

Cora E. Moore was born to Harriet Heney and John Shanklin Moore near Hastings, Sept. 1, 1875 and passed away early Christmas morning, Dec. 25, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Wayne Blackman, at the age of 86 years, three months and 25 days.

She confessed her faith in her Saviour and was baptized Aug. 22, 1905 in the Nishna river near Hastings, by Rev. J. B. Lenty. She was a member of the Silver City Baptist church, transferring later to the West Oak Baptist church, teaching a Sunday school class and was active in the sewing circle. In later years she joined the First Christian church in Glenwood where she faithfully attended as long as her health permitted.

On March 30, 1893 she was united in marriage to Charlie Lee Hunt of Glenwood. To this union nine children were born, four of whom preceded her in death; a son and daughter in infancy, a daughter, Mrs. Mae Johnson in 1930, son Lyle in 1956. Mr. Hunt passed away Oct. 31, 1952; her parents sister and four brothers also preceded her in death.

Mrs. Hunt was a charter member of Unedia Rebekah lodge of Silver City where she enjoyed a large circle of friends and she remained active until reclining years kept her from attending.

Cora and Charlie lived their entire married life in Mills county, establishing a home near Silver City in 1925, moved to a farm north of Glenwood; 16 years later moving to their home in Hillsdale where they celebrated a 58th wedding anniversary before death parted them.

Cora lived and upheld her fine Christian faith all through her life. After raising seven children her mother love claimed two small grandsons, Kenneth and Wayne Johnson, at the death of their mother, and cared for the as long as she was needed. She loved her family and enjoyed having family dinners in her home at which children and grandchildren gathered to share many happy hours together. In later years when her children were grown her greatest source of pleasure came from piecing and quilting quilts.

Her departure is deeply mourned by her children, Eddie, Red Oak; Bacil, Oakland; Burdette, Glenwood; George, Henderson; Marjorie, Mrs. Wayne Blackman, Malvern; one sister, Mrs. Kate Houser, Glenwood; two brothers, Frank, Pomona, Calif.; George, Stockton, Calif.; 25 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, other relatives and a host of friends.

Of Mrs. Hunt it can be truly said:

Mother’s hands are weary,
Fold them on her breast,
They have been so busy,
Let oh let them rest.
Worn and thin and wrinkled,
Seamed with toil and care
Yet in all they’ve aided
Beautiful and fair.
Think of how they guided
Tiny toddling feet,
Soothed away all sorrow
With their touch so sweet.
Banish pain and sorrow,
Closed are the eyes
Of her loved, who will greet her
In mansions in the sky.
Mother’s hands are weary,
Fold them on her breast,
Dear old hands so feeble
They have earned their rest.
God is waiting for her
And he understands
All the work for others
Done by Mother’s hands.
