Mills County Tribune dated January 3, 1929:

Arnold B. Kates was born in Hardin County, Ohio March 7, 1877 and departed this life December 29, 1928 at his home in Pacific Junction reaching the age of 51 years, 9 months and 22 days.

On December 23, 1911 he was united in marriage to Miss Florence Hunter and to this union were born four children, Howard, Harold, Homer and Henry. Those who survive him are his wife, the four children, one sister, Mrs. Jennie Ducker of New Raymer, Colo., three brothers, Joe of Nebraska, George and Will of Glenwood.

In early manhood he united with the Friend Church in West Oak but of late he attended the Holiness Church at Pacific Junction. He was a kind husband and father. Nearly all of his life was lived in and near Glenwood.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o’clock from the Methodist church in Glenwood conducted by Rev. J. F. Stille of the West Oak Baptist church assisted by Rev. J. H. Freedline of Glenwood.
Music for the service was furnished by Mrs. F. A. Sullivan and Miss Phoebe McCoy with Miss Mary Evelyn Logan at the piano. Burial was made in the Glenwood cemetery.
