Funeral services for Jane Ann Ross, 49, of Glenwood were held January 11 at Peterson Mortuary in Glenwood. The Rev. Victor Engelmann officiated, with burial in Glenwood Cemetery.
Mrs. Ross passed away January 8, 1992, at Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs.
She was born August 11, 1942, in Glenwood, the daughter of Hugh and Pauline Garrett Edwards. She married Terry Dee Ross on January 27, 1959.
Jane was a graduate of Buena Vista College in Storm Lake and the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls. At the time of her death she was employed as treatment program manager at Glenwood State Hospital-School.
Jane was very active in the community. She founded the Gingerbread House Pre-School, which she ran for over 20 years. She was water safety chairman and first aid instruction for the American Red Cross in Mills County for nearly 30 years. She was named to Outstanding Young Women in America in 1968.
She joined the First Congregational Church in 1960, and was a member of the Dorcas Society. She was also a Sunday school teacher. Other memberships included XI Alpha Omicron and Iowa Delta Eta sororities. Jane also did a good deal of work for other community organizations.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Survivors include her husband Terry of Glenwood; two daughters, Tamara Keightley and Kimberly Taylor, both of Glenwood; her mother, Pauline Edwards of Glenwood; a sister, Ruth Lundy of Glenwood; a brother, Gene Edwards of Louisville, Neb.; an aunt, Helen Fenwick of Glenwood; and two grandsons, Kyle and Kristofor Taylor of Glenwood.
Joan Dashner was the organist at the funeral service. Pallbearers were Clarence Boles Jr., LeMar Osterholm, Paul Lennemann, Gary Perkins, Gene Jurgens and Allan Christiansen. Honorary pallbearers were Dr. Marvyn Fernald, John Dean, Paul Cheyney, Jim Thomas, Clarence Pyle, Artie Evans, Robert Honig, Don Bruce and Earl Taylor.
Memorials are suggested to the Mills County Red Cross, First Congregational Church of the Glenwood Public Library.
