Funeral services for Burdette Hunt, 81, of Glenwood were held January 17 at Hillsdale United Methodist Church. The Rev. Gene Crossett officiated with burial in Glenwood Cemetery.

Mr. Hunt passed away January 14, 1989, at the Tabor Manor Care Center in Tabor.

He was born December 1, 1907, in Silver City, the son of Charles and Cora Moore Hunt. He lived near Silver City until the age of 18, and at that time the family moved north of Glenwood, where he helped his father farm.

On February 25, 1933, he was united in marriage to Janice M. Slaughter, and shortly thereafter moved to the Hillsdale community where he farmed until his health failed many years later.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Mae Johnson, and a brother, Lyle Hunt.

Survivors include his wife, Janice; three daughters, Mrs. Bruce (Janette) Blackburn of Glenwood, Mrs. Marvin (Carolyn) Boyce of Merriman, Neb., and Mrs. Terry (Barbara) Sell of Glenwood; a sister, Marjorie Blackman of Malvern; three brothers, Ed Hunt and Bacil Hunt, both of Red Oak, and George Hunt of Council Bluffs; 10 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Amy Boyce was the pianist at the funeral service. Pallbearers were Rod Blackburn, Doug Blackburn, Dan Blackburn, Randy Funderman, Mike Boyce and Matt Boyce. Honorary pallbearers were Clarence Dalton, Clayton Bower, Art Thieschafer, Carl Buch, Ben Jackson and Dale Sell.

Memorials are suggested to the Hillsdale United Methodist Church.

Peterson Mortuary in Glenwood was in charge of arrangements.
