November 20, 1941J. O. Haynie Dies While Out Hunting
Born in Mills County in 1866 Mr. Haynie Had Lived Many Years in Nebraska. Burial in Waubonsie Cemetery.
Funeral service for J. O. Haynie, 75, better known as "Jesse," well known Mills county resident, were held Monday afternoon, November 17, at the Heafy and Heafy funeral home in Omaha after which the body was brought to the Old Waubonsie church south of Glenwood where short services were held and the body laid to rest in the family lot. Mr. Haynie had been in his usual good health. He went on a hunting trip last Friday morning and was just returning to his car when he was stricken with a fatal heart attack.
The funeral services were conducted by Reverend T. B. Gray of Omaha. Music for the service consisted of two songs, "Rock of Ages" and "In the Garden." Pallbearers were Walter Swope, Bliss Byers, Frank Buffington, Paul Staten, H. Wm. Pieper and Carl Grassman.
Jesse Ogden Haynie, son of Richard and Sarah Haynie, was born February 8, 1866 in Mills county, Iowa and departed this life at Gretna, Nebraska, November 14, 1941, at the age of 75 years, nine months and six days. He grew to manhood in Mills county, later going to Sarpy county Nebraska, where he lived until recent years. He then moved to Omaha were he lived at the time of his death.
In 1885 he was united in marriage to Mary Tague. Six children were born to this union, three of whom survive him: Joe of Peoria, Illinois; Lee of Woodland, California; and Grace Sprecker of Montgomery, Alabama. Mary Tague Haynie passed away May 22, 1902.
In 1904 he was united in marriage to Bessie May Moore who with their five sons and four daughters survive him, these being, Lavon Addleman, Richfield, Nebraska; Hazel Perkins, Bonner Sprinks, Kansas; Elsie Inman, Plattsmouth, Nebraska; Geraldine Gallentine, Woodland, California; Guy of Glenwood; Elmer of Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri; Paul, Donald and Woodrow, all of Omaha.
He is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. Martha Christwiser, Plattsmouth, Nebraska; Edna Gillett, Blair, Nebraska; two brothers, J. A. Haynie, Lodi, California; Sam Haynie, Dickens, Nebraska, as well as 24 grandchildren, three great grandchildren and many nieces and nephew and a host of other friends and neighbors.
