Funeral Services Held for Emerson Lady

Funeral services for Mrs. Margaret Nims, 92, longtime resident of the Emerson and Red Oak communities, were held Monday afternoon at the Perryman chapel in Red Oak with the interment in Evergreen cemetery.

Pallbearers were six grandsons, Harry Lawton of Jefferson; Horace Waltz of Emerson; John W. Russell of Hastings; Welton Nims of Red Oak; Arthur Nims of Emerson; L. M. Srite of Red Oak.

Mrs. Nims died Saturday morning of complications of her age at the home of her daughter, Mrs. E. C. Knight in Red Oak. She had been in ill health for several years and was seriously ill for three months.

A native of Scotland, where she was born May 3, 1849, she was brought to Canada by her parents, Mr. And Mrs. James Levi, when she was a few months old. The family lived in Indiana and Jones county, Iowa before moving to Emerson in 1873. On October 17, 1872 she was married to John Welton Nims at Wyoming, Iowa. Mr. Nims died on April 5, 1934.

Survivors are four daughters, Mrs. Knight, Mrs. W. O. Zaelke, and Mrs. F. E. Shaw of Red Oak and Mrs. J. O. Russell of Hastings; two sons, Fred J. And Wesley C. Nims of Lisbon, North Dakota; 10 grandchildren; and three brothers, David Levi of Gravity, Iowa, Oliver Levi of Colorado and Frank Levi of Adel, Iowa.
