Funeral services were held April 30 for Robert L. Boyce, 80, a former Glenwood resident who died April 24 in Denver, Colorado.

He was born April 9, 1899 in Glenwood, the son of Edmund and Effie Boyce and was educated in Glenwood schools.

After seeing action with the American forces in World War I, Boyce received a Civil Engineering degree from Iowa State University where he eventually became employed by the Bureau of Reclamation as a Construction Engineer. Before his retirement in 1968, he received a Meritorious Service Award and silver medal in recognition of this 19 years with the Bureau.

During World War II, he served as a Lt. Commander in the Civil Engineering Corp of the U. S. Navy where he was the Assistant District Public Works Officer of the 4th Naval District.

Survivors include a son, Keith of Denver, 13 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ferdinand of Glnewood and Charles of Omaha; three sisters, Goldie White and Sylvia Benedict, both of Glenwood and Esther Knall of Seattle, Wash. His wife, Pauline and son Robert Q. preceded him in death.

Boyce was buried with full military honors at the Ft. Logan National Cemetery in Colorado.
