From the Opinion Tribune dated 08-01-1923:

Irene Boyce, 16 year old daugher of Mr. and Mrs. E. G. Boyce, residing north of Glenwood, died about noon Saturday from bullet wounds inflicted by Everett Vallier on Wednesday of last week when he went to the Boyce home firing the fatal shot into the body of the girl and wounding her mother, after which he drove down the road a short distance and sent a bullet through his own brain.

The bullet which it was thought at first had lodged in the hip proved to have glanced upward penetrating the abdomen and surgeons' skill was of no avail.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon from the Community Baptist church in West Oak, Rev. Joseph Stille officiating taking for his text Rev. 21:1-4. Music was furnished by a quartet composed of Mesdames F. V. Kemp and S. M. Criswell and Messrs. E. R. Herrick and Joy Parker with Mrs. Clyde Rhoads at the piano. The pallbearers were Edith Slaughter, Hilka Milsap, Hilda Stille, Frances Brett, Alma Stille and Lydia Stille.
