Mrs. Clinton Parker, Mrs. Lynn Parker, Mrs. Dallas McGrew, Mrs. Kent Butcher, Mrs. Ben Dittus and Mrs. Alfred Hummel cared for the floral offerings.
Interment was in the Wesley Chapel cemetery.
The following tribute to Mrs. Mabell Pierson was written by her brother, Claude E. Wilson:
"Born in a sod house in the sandhill country of Nebraska, she began life on June 7, 1888, and due to a severe heart attack, departed from it at her home in Glenwood, Jan. 9, 1953.
"It seemed that from the beginning of her life God meant her to be an angel of mercy, for in our play as youngsters she was always caring for an imaginary sick doll, a kitten or a chicken. This trait seemed stamped indeliby on her nature for it followed her throughout her life, and legion are those who can testify to her deeds of kindness, especially in times of sickness or distress. When five years of age she, with her parents and brothers, came to Iowa, settling in the Wesley Chapel neighborhood where she attended country school, graduating from the eighth grade with the highest honors in the county. Her higher education was secured at Henderson high school and Tabor college. She joined the Methodist church at Wesley Chapel when but a girl and remained a faithful member all of her life.
"On Feb. 24, 1909 she was married to Robert Ray Pierson of Henderson. To this union were born two children, Melvin, who died in infancy, and Joyce who is now a teacher in the Glenwood schools. Her husband preceded her in death on Sept. 1, 1951.
"Her chief source of satisfaction seemed centered around her church and its organization. She taught in the Sunday school and was president of the Ladies Aid for three years. She was a charter member of the Macedonia chapter of the O. E. S., serving as Worthy Matron in 1942.
"Upon moving to Glenwood in 1948, she at once associated herself with the Methodist church and its activities as well as Woman's club, the Eastern Star and Pythian Sisters.
"She is survived by her daughter Joyce and two brothers, Claude Wilson of DeKalb, Ill., and Carl Wilson of Malvern, in addition to a host of relatives and friends.
"Since we moved to Illinois in 1942, she has been our chief source of contact with the home folks, having taken time from her busy life each Sunday for the past 11 years to wright us a letter. This has meant more than pure faithfulness. It has meant self sacrifice and devotion.
"Surely God in His mercy will reward this good woman, my beloved sister."
