Betty J. Hoggatt, 59, Glenwood

Funeral services for Betty Jean Hoggatt, 59, of Glenwood were held Monday, March 28, at Peterson Mortuary in Glenwood, with the Rev. Gene Crossett officiating. Burial was in Martin Chapel Cemetery in Pacific Junction.

Mrs. Hoggatt passed away Thursday, March 24, in Glenwood.

She was born January 4, 1929, in Lisco, Neb., the daughter of Glen and Mary Irene Neel. Her father died when she was four, and 2 ½ years later, her mother died. Betty was then sent to the Nebraska Children’s Home, but was adopted by a family from York, Neb.

As Betty grew up, she learned to help others. This became a lifetime profession for her. She worked in nursing homes and care facilities, she took in homeless strangers, and she enjoyed making things for her family. Betty enjoyed sharing jokes with others, and was always active. If she wasn’t knitting or crocheting, she was out doing something else.

Survivors include her five children: Michael James Will, Deborah Kay Fisher, Robbin Evelyn Turner, Tommy Dee Hoggatt and Ronald Lee Hoggatt; and by her grandchildren, David and Matthew Rumery, Shane and Austin Fisher, Brandy Hoggatt and Missy Turner.

Ruth Picker was the organist at the services, while Virginia Christensen and Carolyne Karr performed a duet. Pallbearers were Michell Stoltenberg, Michael Stoltenberg, Jody Webster, Rick Starks, Vern Jones and Dan Cooper.
