Leona J. Harris, 85, Glenwood

Funeral services for Leona J. Harris, 85, of Glenwood were held Thursday, March 24, at the Raynor Funeral Home Chapel in Glenwood. The Rev. Evan Williams, pastor of First Christian Church, officiated, with burial in Glenwood Cemetery.

Mrs. Harris passed away at her home March 21 following a sudden illness.

She was born in Glenwood, and lived in the Macedonia and Omaha areas until moving to Glenwood in 1937. She worked in the clothing center of the Glenwood State School for 31 years, retiring in 1968. Mrs. Harris was a member of the Garden Club, the West Oak Women’s Club, and the Glenwood Women’s Club.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Harris, who passed away last month.

Survivors include one son, Kenneth “Bud” Hammers of Littleton, Colorado; one daughter, Mrs. Ray (Carol) Eichelberger of Glenwood; two brothers, Wayne Anthony of Glenwood and Marion Anthony of Hemet, Cal.’ One sister, Virginia Barber of Deerbrook, Wisc.; five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Albert McCallister, Earl Hatcher, Wayne Keith, Wayne Boles, Robert Fidler and Vaughn Bennett. Memorials may be made to First Christian Church in Glenwood.
