I, James Madison Carson, of the town of Emerson, County of Mills and State of Iowa, do make this my last will and testament, hereby revoking all former wills by me at any time made.

After all my just debts and funeral expenses have been paid I give, devise and bequeath all my property, real and personal, which I may own at the time of my death, as follows, that is to say:

First: To my wife, Elizabeth Carson, I give the use of all my property during her lifetime. The portion hereby given to my said wife is in lieu of all rights and interests which she would have in my estate in the absence of a will.

Two: Upon the death of my said wife I hereby direct that all my property be divided equally between my children, Edward L. Carson, Charlie Carson, John Carson and Emma Carson Malm, share and share alike.

Three: I hereby nominate my son, John Carson, to be the executor of this my last will and testament without bonds.

We hereby certify that on this 29th day of December 1914 at Emerson, Iowa, James Madison Carson, to us personally known, did, in our presence, sign the foregoing instrument and declare the same to be his last will and testament, and we, at his request, and in his presence, and in the presence of each other, do hereunto subscribe our names as witnesses thereto.
