This is the last will and testament of Mr. John Chambers, now resident of Malvern in Mills County, Iowa.
Burdened only with the obligation to pay all debts existing against me at the date of my decease and being now in the full possession of all my mental faculties, I hereby publish and declare this my last will and testament hereby revoking all wills by me heretofore made. I give devise and bequeath to my beloved wife Phebe, all and singular all the property, real or personal of which I die seized possessed or in any way or manner entitled to and wheresoever the same may be situated or located, whether I now own it or may hereafter acquire it, to be hers absolutely with full power to dispose of and sell or dispose of any part thereof at her pleasure and transfer to purchasers or assigns a perfect title thereto. I hereby appoint my said wife, Phebe my sole executrix of this my will and request that she be not required to give bond to probate authority unless upon the complaint of my creditors and then only as may appear necessary for their protection. I make the request of my said wife and executrix aforesaid that as to all that is herein given to her and that may remain hers at her decease she will so provide that all of our eight children may share equally in the distribution of such remainder, share and share alike. If anyone of my said eight children should not at the time of the decease of my said wife, be living , I hereby direct that the shares (one eighth of my property) which would belong to the said heir, if then living, be then divided, share and share alike, between my grandchildren, the children of such and heirs of mine _____ this will as may at that time be living.
In case my said beloved wife Phebe should depart this life leaving me surviving her, then and in that case, I give devise and bequeath to my aforesaid eight children at my death all of my property, real or personal, of which I die possessed and if at the date of my decease any one or more of my said eight children be then deceased, the children of the said deceased child shall take in equal proportion the said one-eighth _______
