WILL OF G. W. PATRICK

I, G. W. Patrick, a resident of Malvern, Mills County, Iowa, being of sound mind and realizing the uncertainty of life and the necessity of preparing for death, do hereby make, publish and declare this, my last Will and Testament, hereby revoking any and all wills by me heretofore made.

Realizing that my estate was the joint accumulation of myself and my late wife and believing that she would desire that the same should be distributed to the two sides of the family, I hereby give one half of my said estate, both real and personal, to the nephews and nieces on the Patrick side of the family, more specifically described as follows, to wit: - Elmer Stone, Eva Knight, Grant Knight, Mary Steckel and Jennie Phillips, the said one half of said estate to be divided among said five heirs in equal parts, share and share alike.

The remaining one half of my said estate, I hereby give, devise and bequeath to the following named nephews and nieces on the Lewis side of the family, being more specifically described and set out as follows, to wit: Fay Lewis, Cliff Lewis, Ruth Lewis Rhodes, Nellie Christy Cox, Roxy Christy, Mary Christy, Maud Christy, Rachel Dunlap Clay and Amelda Dunlap Huff, the said one half of said estate to be divided among said nine heirs in equal parts, share and share alike.

As soon after my death as possible, I hereby direct that all of my just and legal debts, including the expenses of my last sickness and burial, be fully paid and discharged.

I hereby authorize and empower the executor of this Will to sell and convey any part or all of the real estate, which I may own at the time of my death, or any other property which may come into his hands by virtue of his appointment, if in his judgment and by the approval of the Probate Court of this County, it would be for the interest of the above named heirs and to facilitate the distribution of the estate in his hands.

If any of the above named persons hereby made beneficiaries under this Will, shall not outlive me, then it is hereby especially provided and ordered that the share of this said estate which would have gone to such person, if same had outlived me, then shall be distributed among the other persons herein named as beneficiaries hereunder. It being specifically understood that in either case, that the two halves of this said estate shall not be distributed other than is above provided, that is to say, that if one of the five heirs on the Patrick side of the family, as above named, shall die, then the said one half shall be divided share and share alike, among the remaining ones, as above named or if anyone of the nine persons on the Lewis side of the family as above named, shall not outlive me, then in that event, the said one half shall be divided share and share alike, between such ones as outlive me.

I hereby nominate and appoint (____*______), as the executor of this, my last Will and Testament, subject to the approval of the Probate Court of this County.

In Witness whereof, I have hereunto set my hand at Malvern, Mills County, Iowa, in the presence of C. B. Christy and Fred Durbin, to whom I have declared this to be my last Will and Testament and whom I have requested to sign same as witnesses thereto.

Signed this 20th day of January, A.D. 1913
G. W. Patrick
