WILL OF M. W. GREENE
I, Manley W. Greene of Mills County IA, do make and publish this my last will and testament.
First - I do will and bequeath to my wife Maria W. Green the house in which we now live
together with the lots now used in connection, together with all the appurtenances belonging
to the same.Second - I will and bequeath unto my wife, Maria W. Greene all my right title and interests in
the ferry at Plattsmouth, Nebraska Territory, now owned and held by me in connection with J.
L. Sharp, W. Mickelwait, Thomas G. Palmer and Wm. (Corfield?) whether the said interest be
held by me by charter license or by purchase, the same to be held at the absolute disposal by
my said wife by sale or otherwise. She to have and enjoy the benefits and profits thereof and
to have and to hold all the property belonging to or connected with said ferry to the same
extent that I have in the same. It is possible however that in case my wife, Maria W. Greene
should die or marry the said interest herein willed and bequeathed to her shall become the
absolute property of my child or children and of their heirs forever.Third - It is my will and desire that my wife, Maria W. Greene shall continue to hold the same
interest in the Mercantile business of the firm of Troth-Greene and Co. that is now held by me
in the same to the full end of the term for which the co-prtnership of said firm was entered into.Fourth - It is my will and desire that my wife, Maria W. Greene shall have the full use and
benefit of all my personal property, subject to the payment of debts during her life and
widowhood and that in case she should marry it is my will that my children shall have the
same, subject to the same dower interest she shall have in the same and it is also my will that
she receive whatever there may be of rents and profits of my real estate the same to be
appropriated by her at her discretion for the benefit of herself and my children.Fifth - It is my will that the remaining members of the firm of Troth-Greene and Company have
full power to sell whatever real estate now held and owned by the said firm and if my wife
Maria W. Greene should remain a member thereof she joining in any such sale the said
members of said firm accounting to the Executors or Administrators of my estate or the proper
guardian of my child or children for my part of the proceeds of sales made of any such real
estate they executing all necessary deeds for the conveyance of any such real estate.Sixth - It is my will that Thomas E. Troth of the former firm of Troth and Greene shall have full
power to sell and convey in fee simple my real estate held by him and myself jointly and he
accounting to the Executors or Administrators of my estate or to the proper guardian of my
child or children for any ____ part of the proceeds of any such sale.Seventh - I do hereby appoint George Doughty and J. M. Dews, Executors of this my last will
and testament.In testimony whereof I have herewith set my hand and seal this 8th day of May A.D. 1860.
