WILL OF LOUIS LANZ - Mills County Iowa
(not my relative)

In the name of God, Amen.
I, Louis Lanz of the township of Oak County of Mills and State of Iowa, do make publish and
declare this my last will and testament revoking all former wills by me at any time heretofore
made.
My will is that all my just debts and funeral expenses shall by my executors hereinafter named
be paid out of my estate as soon after my decease as shall by them be found convenient.

First. I give and bequeath to each of my following named children: Christian Lanz, Adolph
Lanz, Ella Lanz and Albert Lanz the sum of five hundred dollars to be paid to them at the age
of their majority.

Second. I give and divise all of my real estate and personal property, monies and chattles of
whatsoever nature to my wife, Sophia Lanz, to be enjoyed by her during her natural life,
provided she remain my widow. After her decease and not until my youngest child becomes of
age all of my estate, consisting of real estate, chattles, monies of whatsoever kind shall be
equally divided between all my children or their heirs share and share alike. Except that my
daughter, Lizzie, wife of Henry Kay, shall receive the sum of one thousand dollars less than
any of the other children on account of them owing my estate that amount for rent of my
Nebraska farm.

Third. In case my said wife Sophia Lanz shall marry again after my decease, or if she shall not
accept of the provisions herein made, then she shall have as her dower one third of all my
worldly estate, consisting of real property, personal property or monies of whatsoever kind and
the remaining two thirds of my estate shall be divided equally all my children share and share
alike. Except that my said daughter Lizzie, wife of Henry Kay shall have one thousand dollars
less as heretofore stated but my estate shall not be divided until my youngest child becomes
of age. And lastly, I do hereby nominate and appoint as my executors of this my last will and
testament without bonds; my nephew William Lanz of the City of Chicago, State of Illinois, and
my friend Michael Flammant of the town of Mineola, Mills County and State of Iowa, an
witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand this third day of April in the year of our Lord One
Thousand Eight Hundred and ninety five.

The above instrument consisting of one sheet was at the date thereof signed and declared by
the said Louis Lanz as and for his last will and testament in presence of us who at his request
and in his presence have subscribed our names as witnesses thereto.
