STOUT

I just notice that the page I copied is only a codicil to the will, which will was made in 1916. I
see nothing in the index which would point to the original will so maybe the original was never
filed. Cay

STOUT, Mrs. Eliza

Codicil to Will of Mrs. Eliza Stout

I, the undersigned, Mrs. Eliza Stout, being of sound mind and memory do hereby make,
publish and declare this as and for a codicil to my will, which will is dated May 2nd, 1916, and
witnessed by Geo. E. Masters and W. H. Moore. I now desire to make and do hereby make
the following codicil to said will in manner and form as following - that is to say:

First..I now direct, devise and require that my son, John Franklin Stout, shall pay the sum of
$1,000 to my estate to apply upon and cover so much of an additional indebtedness which I
have recently incurred on account of sickness and which is represented in the mortgage to
Annis & Rohling, covering the South Half of South East Quarter of Section 1o (sic) Township
71, Range 42, in Mills County, Iowa. I now direct and require that said sum of $1,000, be and
the same is hereby made a lien against the North West Quarter of the North East of Section
15, Township 71, Range 42, in Mills County, Iowa, which said 40 acres is bequeathed to my
son, John Franklin Stout in my original Will. My intention now is that he pay said sum of
$1,000 to my estate to be used together with the proceeds of my personal property in paying
my debts, including in said debts any and all mortgages on any of my real estate.

I now make this change for the reason that my son John Franklin Stout has in times past
borrowed more than $1,000 from me, and since I have incurred said expenses in recent and
present sickness, I now direct this payment of $1,000 by him to my estate, and when he has
paid said sum, without interest, then all of the notes which I hold, shall be cancelled and
surrendered to him; the notes which I hold given to me by my said son.

Second..I also now direct, devise and bequeath sufficient of my household goods, and
including my phonograph, to my son William Henry Stout, for his use and need in the home
which I have bequeathed to him, he to choose and decide what he wants. The remainder shall
be divided among the beneficiaries as they desire, or may be sold if they direct. All of the other
provisions of my will I hereby fully approve, ratify and confirm. Dated at Council Bluffs, Iowa,
March 26th 1921. Signed....Eliza Stout
