I, Arthur McClain, of the town of Emerson, Mills County, Iowa, being of sound mind and memory, do hereby make, publish and declare this to be my last will and testament, hereby revoking all former wills by me at any time made.
First: I direct that all my just debts and funeral expenses be paid.
Second: I give devise and bequeath to my wife, Caroline C. McClain, the property in which we now live in the town of Emerson, being lots Seven and Eight of Block Six in Tubbs Addition to the town of Emerson, Iowa, to have and to hold the same during the term of her natural life, and after her death I direct that it be equally divided into five shares between my four children, to wit: Albert M. McClain, Carl A. McClain, Marion F. McClain, and Lulu M:. Lewis, and the children of my deceased son, Henry McClain, the children of said Henry McClain taking the one fifth that would have gone to their father had he lived.
Third: I give devise and bequeath to my wife, Caroline C. McClain, my farm in Indian Creek Township, being the south half of Section Fifteen, Township Seventy Two, Range Forty, in Mills County, Iowa, to have and to hold the same during the term of her natural life, and after her death that the same be divided into five shares. One share each to Albert M. McClain, Carl A. McClain, Marion F. McClain, Lulu M. Lewis and one share to the children of my deceased son, Henry McClain. The intention being that the children of said Henry McClain shall take the part that he would have taken had he lived.
Fourth: I also direct that if I still own the land that I now own in Duel County, Nebraska, near Big Springs, be sold and that the proceeds from the sale of said land shall be divided into five shares, one share each to Albert M. McClain, Carl A. McClain, Marion F. McClain, Lulu M. Lewis, and one share each to the children of my deceased son Henry McClain it being the intention that the children of said Henry McClain shall take the part that he would have taken had he lived.
Fifth: I further give devise and bequeath to my wife, Caroline C. McClain, all of the personal property of which I die seized, after paying all just debts and funeral expenses.
I hereby nominate and appoint my wife, Caroline C. McClain, executrix of this my last Will and Testament, and request that she act without bond. I further suggest that if she does not feel able to look after as executrix, that the court appoint whoever she requests as a joint executrix with her. And if another person is appointed executor to help my wife, he shall or shall not give bond on the suggestion of my wife.

On this 10th day of June, 1914, the foregoing last will and testament was by the testator, Arthur McClain, signed in our presence, and we at his request and in his presence and in the presence of each other have subscribed our names as witnesses thereto. ...Lulu Gilleard....Clyde Genung
