I just checked the 1910 U.S. Census for Marshalltown and found a Gertrude I. Fitzsimmons boarding with the Watson Roberts family of 7 North 4th Street. She is shown as a public school teacher, age 38, born in Iowa, both parents born in Ireland. The date of the enumeration was April 16, 1910, and my information for Ida Fitzsimmons has June 1870 as her birth date.

Perhaps Gertrude I. and Ida are the same person.
