GIFFORD

Della, wife of Mr. E. S. Gifford, died at her home, 407 South Third street, this morning at 4:30 o'clock. Mrs. Gifford was taken sick about ten days ago with typhoid fever, and was extremely ill from the very first. Thursday night she became delirious and from that time until she passed away was unable to recognize her family or friends. Della Welker was born in Columbiana county, Ohio, Jan. 27, 1857, and was 45 years and 5 months old at the time of her death. She was united in marriage to Mr. E. S. Gifford at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Welker, at LeGrand, in 1880 and removed to this city to maker her home nineteen years ago. Mrs. Gifford was one of the prominent members of the Christian church and was a deaconess in that body. She was also a member of the Ladies' Aid Society of the same church, and a member of the Baptist hill Bible class. Mrs. Gifford was well known and loved by a large circle of acquaintances and friends and by her untimely death the church has lost an earnest Christian worker, the husband a true and loving wife, and the children a watchful and tender mother. The deceased is survived by her husband and two daughters, Esther and Lulu, aged 10 and 12 respectively; also by her father, D. B. Welker, of LeGrand, two brothers and two sisters. The sisters are Mrs. Charles H. Smith of this city, and Mrs. W. D. McCord, of Ainsworth, Neb., and the brothers Deputy County Treasurer A. H. Welker, of this city, and Mr. W. G. Welker, of Simeon, Neb. The funeral arrangements have as yet not been completed owing to word that is awaited from relatives who live out of the city.
