Richard Wane Garland age 46 of Minnetonka Beach, known as Dick to his hundreds of friends, died suddenly on October 12, 2002 shortly after enjoying the day with his sons at the University of Iowa football game. Born in Marshalltown, IA, Dick graduated from the University of Iowa in 1978 and has lived in the Twin Cities since 1991. He was currently President of Clark Products in St Paul and had previously been President of Nebco Evans/Ameriserve in Plymouth. Dick is survived by two wonderful sons, Adam and Daniel; Beth, his beloved wife of 22 years; 2 brothers, Dennis (Sue) and Donald (Joanne); parents, Dean & Velma; and many other loving relatives. Dick's passions were his family and friends, Iowa football, and boating on Lake Minnetonka and the Mississippi River. Funeral service 6 pm, Wednesday, with visitation beginning at 4 pm at St Bartholomew Catholic Church, 630 E Wayzata Blvd, Wayzata. Interment Riverside Cemetery, Marshalltown, IA. Memorials preferred to University of Iowa Foundation, Low Vision Research Fund, PO Box 4550, Iowa City, IA 52244-4550, and also Marshalltown High School Athletic Dept. Track Program, 1602 S. 2nd Ave., Marshalltown, IA 50158. He will be forever in the hearts of all the people whose lives were much more fun and joyful because of him.
