MARSHALLTOWN--Doris I. Propst, 73, of 1101 Jackson St., died Tuesday (Nov. 17, 1998) at her home while under the care of Iowa River Hospice.

Following cremation rites at Pursel-Davis Funeral Home and Crematory, memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 20, 1998, at the Pursel-Davis Funeral Home, 405 W. Main St., Marshalltown, with Mr. Phil Galloway officiating. Visitation will be held from noon until time of services on Friday at the funeral home, where the family will greet friends. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens.

A memorial fund has been established.

She was born Feb. 13, 1925, at Tama, Iowa, the daughter of John C. and Elizabeth M. (Fredricks) Shuler. She was raised on a farm outside of Gilman where she graduated from high school.

She was married to Mark Richard Propst on July 26, 1945, in Gilman and they later resided in Marshalltown.

In 1954, they moved to Mason City and she worked in the Park Hospital Cafeteria as a salad maker. After her husband's death in 1967, she returned to Marshalltown and went to work at the Marshalltown Medical & Surgical Center Cafeteria where she retired in 1990. She then worked for Stones Restaurant where she retired in 1998.

She is survived by sons, Dan (Sharon) Propst of Marshalltown and Clark (Eileen) Propst of Mason City; sisters, Betty Stalzer, Darlene Galloway and Gloria Westcott, all of Marshalltown, Helen Hand of Tama and Rhonda Meyer, of Baxter; by brothers, Richard Shuler of Kellogg, Roger Shuler of Melbourne, and Ronnie Shuler of State Center; by sisters-in-law, Myrtle Todd and Beverly Wilkining, both of Newton; three grandchildren, Emily Bryant, Sarah Birke, and Danielle Propst, all of Mason City; and four great-grandchildren, Melodee Birke, Lane Bryan, Elora Birke, and Riley Bryant, all of Mason City.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; her sister, Kathy Shipley; and a brother, Harold Shuler.
