GLORIA WESTCOTT, 78

Gloria Westcott, 78, of Marshalltown, died Thursday, May 19, 2011, at the Iowa River Hospice Home in Marshalltown surrounded by her family. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 on Monday, May 23, 2011, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Sunday May 22, 2011, at the funeral home. Gloria Ann Shuler was born on July 22, 1932, in Tama County; she was the daughter of John and Elizabeth Marie (Fredericks) Shuler. She had attended school in the Gilman School district. On May 10, 1965 she was united in marriage to Roland Westcott; together they raised eight children. Gloria had been employed at Cooper Manufacturing, Haley's Grocery and had worked in home health care; most of all she enjoyed being home on the farm where she plucked many a chicken feather. Gloria loved her Boston Terriers, birds, flowers and crafts and all the farm animals they raised. She was Grandma, Mom and Grammie to many; she also enjoyed traveling with her daughters.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 46 years, Roland; her children: Terrie Sherbon of Utah, Leann (Perry) Bowers, of Gilman, Allen Smith, of Marshalltown, Richard (Jennie) Westcott, of Marshalltown, Rodney Westcott, of Kellogg, Cory Smith and Skye (Brad) Ruse, of Marshalltown; grandchildren: Cory, Skye, Shannon, Shawn, Greg, Devin, Dug, Nick, Cody, Ryan, Tanner, TJ, Harley, Alex, Walker, Dean, Gary, Lisa and David; 15 great-grandchildren and many many children that stayed at the farm over the years; her siblings: Richard Shuler, Roger Shuler, Ronnie Shuler, Darlene Galloway and Helen Hand.

Gloria was preceded in death by her parents, John and Elizabeth; her son Jake; her sisters Doris Propst, Betty Stalzer and Kathy Shipley and son-in-law Terry Sherbon.
