MARY JO HAYES

Mary Jo Hayes, 55, of Ft. Collins, Colo., a former Gilman resident, died of a respiratory and kidney ailment Saturday, Sept. 12, at a Ft. Collins hospital.

A memorial service was held Sept. 16 at the Gilman Community Church, with the Rev. Stephen Miller officiating. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery, Marshalltown.

The daughter of Justin M. and Margaret A. Ingebritson Gunderson, she was born Sept. 9, 1937, in Marshalltown. She attended Gilman schools, graduating from high school in 1955.

On June 22, 1963, she was married to Dale R. Hayes in Marshalltown. They lived in Humboldt, Mason City and Hampton.

Following her husband's death in 1983, Mrs. Hayes returned to Gilman. She moved to Ft. Collins in 1989.

Surviving are five sons, Rick, Dan and James of Ft. Collins, Randy of Fertile and Mark of Iowa City; one sister, Janet Johnson of Gilman; and six grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.
