Velma Flora, 99, of Marshalltown, IA passed away Monday, December 10, 2012, at Grandview Heights in Marshalltown. Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, December 13, 2012, at Melbourne Cemetery. The Main St. Chapel of the Anderson Funeral Homes has been entrusted with the arrangements. Velma was born April 3, 1913 to Arthur G. and Matilda (Petermeier) Flora in Melbourne, IA. She was educated in the Melbourne schools, attended State Teachers College in Cedar Falls, and graduated from Drake University with a BA in education. Velma was a teacher in Waterloo, Van Cleve, South America, and Marshalltown. Velma will be missed by two nieces; Barbara (Robert) Goodmanson, Dixie George, seven great nieces and nephews, many great great nieces and nephews along with several great great great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Glenn, Ira, and Benton, sister Stella, and a nephew, Jim Flora.
