MRS. BEANE, LEGRAND, DIES AT AGE OF 72

Mrs. Charles H. Beane, 72, LeGrand, died in Marshalltown Monday night. She had been ill for the last week. Born Edna L. Ferguson in Marion Township March 13, 1883, she was the daughter of Carver and Lucy Ferguson. She received her education in the Friends Academies at LeGrand and New Providence and Penn College. ON SEPT. 1, 1904 she was married to Charles H. Beane. The couple farmed near LeGrand prior to retiring in 1942. Mrs. Beane was the oldest active member of the LeGrand Friends Church. Preceding her in death were her husband Nov. 30, 1954, two children in infancy, a sister in infancy and a brother Erie C. Ferguson. SURVIVING ARE five children Mrs. John Watland of Glenview, Ill., Ernest Beane of Gilman, Dr. Ercil V. Beane of Route 2, Mrs. Willard Merryman of Route 1, and Donald Beane, Garwin. Also surviving are 19 grandchildren, a brother, Jesse Ferguson of Marshalltown, and two sisters, Mrs. Carrie Plummer of Denver, Iowa, and the Rev. Bessie Collins, Salem. Services will be from the LeGrand Friends Church at 2 p.m. Thursday in charge of the Rev. Lewis D. Savage, of Wabash, Ind. Burial will be in the Friends Cemetery. Provisions have been made for Memorial Gifts. Friends may call at the Estel-Perrin Funeral Home until 9:30 a.m. Thursday.
