HIRAM STUMP IS DEAD AT 73

Hiram S. Stump, 73, 1008 E. Main St., a Marshalltown resident for 61 years, died at 4:50 a.m. Friday at Evangelical Hospital following a three-day illness. Death was of apoplexy. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Pursel Funeral Home with the Rev. A. Otto Bishop officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. Banner Lodge 123, IOOF, will conduct graveside rites. Mr. Stump was born May 5, 1881, at Sheffield, the son of Benjamin and Eliza Stump. A moulder by trade, he worked for the old Shortfall foundry and for Lennox Furnace Company for 32 years. He retired in 1951. He was married to Pearl Hays who preceded him in death. He then married Irene Butts in 1945. Surviving are the widow and a number of nieces and nephews. Mr. Stump was a member of Banner Lodge, IOOF and the Moulder and Foundry Union, Local 91, and was an honorary member of the local musicians union.
