HANNAH E. WHALEY DIES IN 72ND YEAR

Mrs. Hannah E. Whaley, 71, a resident of Marshall county since 1895, died early Sunday in a hospital here after being in failing health 10 years. She was born at Yankton, S.D., Aug. 13, 1877, and was married in Marshalltown in 1895 to Albert E. Palmer. They lived in Albion a number of years. He died in 1933. She was later married to Charles H. Whaley at Dakota City, Neb. He died in Marshalltown in 1943. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Rosemarie Bichel, Marshalltown; two sons, Orvie E. Palmer and Clarence R. Palmer, both of Marshalltown; a sister, Mrs. Maude House, Story City; five grandchildren; three great grandchildren, three stepdaughters, Mrs. A. C. Jennings, Turtle Lake, Wis.; Mrs. D. S. Poston, Sioux City; Mrs. Neva Compton, Houston, Texas, and a stepson, D. E. Whaley, also of Houston. A brother and a sister are dead. Mrs. Whaley was a member of the Methodist church and the Spanish-American War Veterans auxiliary. The body is at the Avey Funeral home where services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday. Dr. Arthur J. Kindred will officiate and burial will be at Riverside.
