BEN WEIDT, VETERAN BARBER HERE, DIES

Ben C. Weidt, 808 West State street, a barber in Marshalltown for 40 years, died Thursday morning at his home at 10:45. He has been in poor health for the past four years, spending six weeks in bed at intervals this winter. He had been in bed the last time since Sunday. Death was caused by heart complications. Mr. Weidt was born Dec. 12, 1873 at Colesburg, the son of Christian and Dorothy Weidt. He lived there or near there until a young man when he went to Cedar Rapids, then came to this city. He married May Robinson April 2, 1915, in Kirksville, Mo. Mr. Weidt was employed at the old Cook's Cigar store for 21 years and for the past six years had had his own shop on South First avenue. Besides his widow he is survived by one brother, Fred C. Weidt of Austin, Minn. He was a member of Banner lodge No. 123, I.O.O.F., Rebekah lodge No. 40, Beeson camp No. 385, M.W.A., Zion Methodist church near Colesburg and past president of Townsend club No. 1 of this city. Services will be held Monday afternoon at 2:30 at the Pursel funeral home in charge of Rev. W. A. Dalton. Burial will be in Riverside.
