FRED HINECKER, FORMER RAIL INSPECTOR, DIES

Fred O. Hinecker, 407 S. 6th St., died at 7:10 a.m. Monday at Mercy Hospital where he had been a patient for 17 weeks. He had been in failing health since 1953 and the immediate cause of his death was apoplexy. Mr. Hinecker came to Marshalltown in 1915 and worked as a car inspector for the Chicago Great Western Railroad for 30 years. Prior to that he farmed on the Sixth Street road. HE WAS BORN April 14, 1873 in Upland, Ind., the son of George and Katherine Hinecker. When he was nine the family came to Iowa settling at Zearing and later living in Bangor and Gilman. His first marriage was to Lulu Swaim on Feb. 3, 1895 at Union. Mrs. Hinecker died 20 years ago. Surviving him from this union are three sons and two daughters. They are Oren of Fredricka, Mrs. S. T. Crawford of Rochester, Minn.; Mrs. P. W. Stapley of Hammond, Ind.; Wiley G. of Louisville, Ky.; and Ted H. of Ackley. ON MAY 1, 1938 he was married in Rochester, Minn., to Nancy Melvina Keeler, who survives with one sister, Mrs. H. L. Robertson of Marshalltown, 11 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Mr. Hinecker was a member of Central Christian Church. Services will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at the chapel of the Pursel-Davis Funeral Home with the Rev. James Smith in charge. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.
