MRS. ANKRUM IS DEAD AT 74; RITES THURSDAY

Mrs. Carrie Ankrum, 74, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Clarence Hartwell of LeGrand, Sunday morning. She had been in failing health for several years and bedfast the last three weeks. She was born Carrie Willcuts July 20, 1876 at Marion, Ind., the daughter of Joseph and Angeline Willcuts. WHEN SHE was small the family moved to the Marietta community where she attended the schools and grew to womanhood. On Nov 6, 1895 she was married to Elwood Ankrum and they lived in the Minerva community until 1909 when they moved to North Dakota. They returned to Iowa in 1936. Mr. Ankrum died in May 1940. Mrs. Ankrum was a member of the Friends church at LeGrand. SURVIVING are seven children, Mrs. Fern Mullvain of Seattle, Wash., Mrs. Angelyn Hartwell of LeGrand, John Ankrum and Mrs. Elizabeth Loudenlager, both of Heaton, N.D., Mrs. Beulah Siebel of Bowden, N.D., Mrs. Elsie Smith of Cooperstown, N.D., and Mrs. Florence Hambleton of Missoula, Mont. Also surviving are 15 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Services will be at the Estel funeral home at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in charge of Rev. Lewis D. Savage of LeGrand. Burial will be in the Friends cemetery at LeGrand.
