MRS. BUCHWALD DIES FRIDAY

Requiem Mass for Mrs. Gertrude [Hasenstab] Buchwald, 508 Bromley St., who died at Mercy Hospital Friday morning, will be at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Msgr. B. H. Skahill officiating. THE ROSARY will be recited by St. Elizabeth Society at 4 p.m. Sunday and a public Rosary will be said at 8 p.m. Sunday at the Avey Funeral Home. Burial will be in Riverside Cemtery. Mrs. Buchwald was born in Bavaria, Germany, in 1876 but came to this country when she was two years old. She was educated at St. Mary’s School and was a charter member of St. Elizabeth Society. She also was a member of Woodmen Circle Grove No. 8. She was married to Robert Buchwald on Oct. 3, 1893. Mrs. Buchwald was instrumental in raising funds to build Mercy Hospital. SHE IS SURVIVED by one son, Lawrence, Marshalltown; three sisters, Mrs. Anna Thornblade, Marshalltown, Mrs. George Murphy, Dubuque, and Mrs. Melvin Wilson, Des Moines. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1917, and a brother and a sister.
