J. L. BOTTS DIES SUDDENLY THURSDAY

J. L. Botts, 707 Swayze street, died suddenly at his home at 7:15 p.m. Thursday. He had worked as usual during the day. The cause of death was coronary thrombosis. At the time of his death he was employed by E. Lester Williams. Mr. Botts was born March 19, 1887, at Pesotam, Ill., a son of David and Sarah Botts. In 1905 he came to Iowa with his parents settling at Whitten. He then moved to Liscomb where he married Miss Lucille Gately, Dec. 23, 1908. After their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Botts moved to northern Iowa, near Doon, where they lived for several years. Before returning to Marshall county, the family lived at Iona, Minn., until 1923. They had lived in Marshall county since that time. Surviving are, Mrs. Botts, two daughters and three sons, Mrs. Leo Chinburg of Eldora, Mrs. William Martens, James, Cecil and Harold Botts, all of this city; his parents, David Botts of Rosedale, Ind., and Mrs. Sarah Botts of Melrose, Mass.; one sister, Mrs. Don Thomas of Melrose, Mass., four brothers, Sherman Botts of this city, Howard Botts of Ackley, Grant Botts of Waterloo and Roy Botts of Richmond, Va. Four grandchildren and one step-grandchild also survive. He was a member of the Methodist church at Whitten. The body will remain at the Estel funeral home where services will be held at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon in charge of Rev. P. G. Dennis. Burial will be in the Liscomb cemetery.
