MRS. ANNA A. POWELL DIES IN DES MOINES

Mrs. Anna Amelia Powell, 83, widow of Edward F. Powell, a former resident of Marshalltown, died at 4 p.m. Tuesday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J. F. Stiles, in Des Moines. She had been in ill health for three years, but was bedfast only two weeks. Mrs. Powell was the youngest daughter of John A. and Mary Reiber and was born Jan. 1, 1858, in Timber Creek township. She was married Jan. 1, 1876, to Edward F. Powell and they made their home for many years on a farm just east of Marshalltown, later living at 408 and 410 East Church street in this city. Mr. Powell died here in 1911 and in 1912 Mrs. Powell moved with Mr. and Mrs. Stiles to Des Moines. She is survived by three daughters and two sons, Mrs. George H. Speers, Mrs. Howard Nicholson and Russell W. Powell of this city, Mrs. Stiles of Des Moines and George W. Powell of Newton. Seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren also survive. Mrs. Powell was a member of the Episcopal church in this city. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Estel funeral home here in charge of Dr. F. F. Travis. Burial will be in Riverside.
