CHARLES MILLER DIES FRIDAY; RITES TUESDAY

Charles E. Miller, 69, Oskaloosa, died at the Evangelical Hospital Friday evening where he had been a patient for the last week. He had been in failing health since August. He was born Jan. 31, 1887 in Marshall County, the son of Frank and Orilla Arney Miller. He received his education in the rural schools and the schools at Liscomb. ON FEB. 17, 1909, he was married to Roxy B. Ingham. The couple farmed in Marshall County and later moved to Mason City where he was employed by the M. & St. L. Railroad. They were later transferred to Oskaloosa where they lived for 32 years and took his retirement in July 1954. For the last several months they had been making their home in Marshalltown. Mr. Miller was a member of the Machinist Union and the Christian Church. Preceding him in death were two children in infancy, a son, Willis L., and a sister, Mrs. Albert Brindle. SURVIVING ARE his wife, three sons and two daughters, Mrs. Warren Thompson, Paton; Mrs. James Hill, Fendwood, N.J.;Emery E., Hayward, Calif.; Eugene E. Richland, Wash., and DeWayne F. Miller of Richland. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Harry Poe, Conrad. Services will be held from the Estel-Perrin Funeral Home at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in the Benson Cemetery near Whitten.
