LUTHER ARNEY DIES IN NEWBERG, ORE.

Albion---(Special)---Mrs. May McRill has received word of the death Nov. 15, of her brother, Luther E. Arney, a former resident of this county, at his home in Newberg, Ore. Burial was at Newberg. Mr. Arney was born Jan. 15, 1858, the son of John Henry and Elizabeth Hauser Arney, on what is known as the Veatch farm a mile east and two miles south of Liscomb. When a small boy, he moved with his parents to a farm one-half mile north of Albion. Here he grew to manhood and attended the Albion seminary. On March 30, 1882, he married Miss India Oblinger, a teacher in the Albion school, and soon afterwards the couple went to Manning where Mr. Arney was engaged in the hardware business with his brother, Frank, for several years. The family later lived on a farm near Lake City and for short periods of time lived in Des Moines and Panora and moved to Newberg, Ore., in 1911 where they had since resided. Mrs. Arney died at her home June 2, 1938. Mr. Arney is survived by six children. They are Mrs. Mary Lee, Weed, Calif.; Bernard O. Arney, Klamath Falls, Ore.; Mrs. Laura King, Panora; Mrs. Alice A. Houser, and Frank Arney, Newberg, Ore., and Thomas Arney, Lewiston, Idaho. Other survivors include two sisters, Mrs. McRill at Albion, and Mrs. Josephine Reding of Des Moines; a half-brother, Herbert E. Taylor, of McMinnville, Ore., 11 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. A sister, Mrs. Alvin Wilson, died many years ago; the brother Frank Arney, died in 1925 and another sister, Mrs. Sarah Ellen Stoops, died in May of this year in Nebraska and was buried in Albion.
