FORMER RESIDENT IS DEAD AT 91

GREEN MOUNTAIN---(Special)---Services for Mrs. Caroline Ertel Mitchell, 91, a Marshall County pioneer, were Nov. 29 at Greenville, where she had lived since 1926. Mrs. Mitchell died Nov. 24 in a Sioux Rapids hospital. She was the last member of the family of Daniel Ertel Sr. and came here in 1864 from Illinois. She was married to James Wallace Mitchell in 1881. They farmed until 1883 on the place where their daughter, Mrs. J. W. Dyer, now lives and then farmed in Clay County until 1926. He husband died in 1927. She was a member of Chapel Church here and of its choir. Services were at the Friends Church in Greenville with burial in Fanny Fern Cemetery. The Rev. Noel Orcutt officiated, assisted by the Rev. Dorothy Barrett and six of Mrs. Mitchell's grandsons were bearers. Mrs. Mitchell is survived by nine children, 52 grandchildren, 59 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.
