LYMAN SCHRYVER DIES; LONGTIME AREA RESIDENT

Liscomb---(Special)---Lyman Schryver, 86, a resident of this community for more than 60 years, died at 4:30 p.m. Sunday at the Burk Nursing Home in Union. He was born June 2, 1869 in Whiteside County, Ill., the son of Maria and Samuel B. Schryver, and came to Whitten in 1883. HE WAS MARRIED May 17, 1891 to Ruth Coline Murdock of Liscomb and two years later they moved to Farmington, Ill., where he was section foreman until they returned to Liscomb in 1896. From that time he was a carpenter with the exception of six years on a farm. In 1939 he suffered a broken hip in a fall from a scaffold and since then has been unable to do heavy work. Mr. Schryver has been active in community affairs serving on the town council and the board of the Evangelical and Reformed Church. MR. SCHRYVER was a charter member of the Modern Woodman at Liscomb, was a member of the Liscomb IOOF Lodge for more than 50 years and the Rebekah Lodge for 48 years. Two sons, Asa and Delos, preceded him in death. Surviving are the widow and two sons, Charles of Union and Mark of Gladbrook, six grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and one brother, J. E. Schryver of Runnells. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Liscomb Evangelical and Reformed Church with Rev. L. E. Poeschel of Gladbrook in charge. Burial will be in the Liscomb Cemetery.
