MINNIE BERGGREN, FORMER TEACHER, DIES IN CALIFORNIA

Miss Minnie Berggren, former Marshalltown teacher died in Long Beach, Calif., Thursday. Born Dec. 28, 1886, in Marshalltown, she was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter E. Berggren. She received her education in Marshalltown schools graduating in 1906. She was graduated from Drake University in 1912. She then taught in the rural schools and later at Anson School in Marshalltown. MISS BERGGREN was an active member of the Presbyterian Church. Miss Berggren taught in the Presbyterian Girls School in Assiut, Egypt, for three years and later taught in mission schools in North Carolina, New Mexico and California. She is the last surviving member of her family. Preceding her in death were her parents, a sister and four brothers. Surviving are a nephew and four nieces. SINCE HER retirement she had made her home in Long Beach. Services will be held from the Estel-Perrin Funeral Home at 1:30 Wednesday in charge of the Rev. C. Wayne Overholser, pastor of First Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. It was Miss Berggren's request that memorials be directed to the memorial fund of the Presbyterian Church.
