COUNTY PIONEER DIES AT GRINNELL

Grinnell---Services were at 10 a.m. Monday at the Grinnell Congregational church for Dr. Pearl E. Somers, pioneer resident of Marshall county, who died March 26. At the time of his death, the 81-year-old physician was visiting a daughter in Tullahoma, Tenn. The son of John and Mary (Wallace) Somers, he was born on a farm north of Marshalltown. He was graduated in 1894 from Grinnell college and studied medicine at Rush Medical college, where he earned his degree in 1897. He had practiced in Grinnell since 1898 and was a member of the board of the Congregational church. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Lee Soebe of Tullahoma, Tenn., and Mrs. Ruth Einter of Oak Park, Ill.; a sister in Montana, and four grandchildren.
