LEUKEMIA KILLS BILL YORK, 18

William George (Bill) York, 18, of Melbourne died at 6:30 a.m. Wednesday at Evangelical Hospital where he had been taken a short time earlier. Death was of lymphatic leukemia. He was born July 25, 1936 in Marshalltown, the son of Louis and Miriam York, and spent his entire life on the farm near Melbourne. He attended Melbourne school and was graduated with this year's class. Surviving are his parents, a sister, Patricia, a student at Drake University, his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Will Aves, West Lincoln Highway, and an aunt, Mrs. Marjorie Phillips of Griswold. He was preceded in death by a brother who died in infancy. He was a member of the Melbourne Methodist Church where services will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery. Friends may call at Pursel's until 10 a.m. Friday.
