Services for Louis Raymond York, 54, a lifetime Melbourne resident who died at 1:35 p.m. Sunday at a local hospital where he had been a patient for a month, will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Melbourne Methodist Church. HE WAS BORN Dec. 18, 1900, the son of George and Emma York, two miles northeast of Melbourne. At the age of seven years, he moved one half mile from his birthplace and had lived there since. He attended Melbourne High School and Jan. 10, 1923, he married Miriam Aves in Marshalltown. Survivors include the widow, a daughter, Patricia, a student at Drake University, and two brothers, Orval of State Center and Gaylon of Albion. He was preceded in death by Louis, Jr., who died in infancy, a son Bill, who died last fall and a sister, Mrs. Lloyd Gowdy of Santa Ana, Calif. MR. YORK WAS a member of the Melbourne Methodist Church, the Farm Bureau, Master Corn Growers, MWA Camp No. 3963 of Melbourne and was a trustee of Washington Township. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery near his home. Friends may call at Pursel-Davis Funeral Home.
