MARVIN WEBB DIES AT 70

G. Marvin Webb, 70, 104 N. 2nd Ave., died at the Evangelical Hospital Saturday night. He had been hospitalized since August. He was born May 16, 1884 in Statesville, N.C., the son of Daniel and Jeanette Mayes Webb, and received his education in the schools of that vacinity. On Dec. 28, 1910 he was married to Leta Turner at Statesville. The couple lived in North Carolina until 1915 when they came to Brooklyn, Iowa, and farmed there until moving to Marshalltown in 1925. He lived the remainder of his life here except for a short time spent on an acreage in Tama County. Mr. Webb was employed for a short time by the Marshalltown Trowel Co., and for many years had been employed by the Marshalltown Manufacturing Co., until health forced his retirement in August. Preceding him in death were his wife last August, a sister and two brothers. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Vernon Florence of Winona, Minn., and Mrs. Robert Wilkinson, Route 3. Also surviving are three grandchildren and a brother, Joe E. of Statesville, N.C. Services will be held from the First Methodist Church at 2 p.m. Tuesday in charge of the Rev. R. Park Anderson. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. Friends may call at the Estel-Perrin Funeral Home until 9 a.m. Tuesday.
