GUY BENNETT, GILMAN, DIES EARLY MONDAY

H. Guy Bennett, 72, of Gilman, died at the St. Thomas Mercy Hospital Monday morning where he had been a patient since Saturday. He had been in failing health for the past two years. He was born May 4, 1883, in Council Bluffs, the son of L. M. and Emma Sparks Bennett. His mother died when he was 13 years old and he came to Gilman to make his home, and had resided in the Gilman community for the last 60 years. IN DECEMBER, 1908, he married Edith Negley who preceded him in death as did two sons in infancy. On Sept. 23, 1922, he was married to Grace Winn. The couple has since lived in the Gilman community. Surviving are his wife and three daughters, Mrs. Floyd Rhodes, Toledo, Mrs. Gayle Bulfer of Gilman and Mrs. Floyd Cooper of Newton. Eleven grandchildren and one great grandchild also survive. MR. BENNETT was a member of the Gilman Masonic Lodge and Eastern Star and a member of the Gilman Community Church. Services will be held at the Gilman Community Church at 2 p.m. Wednesday in charge of the Rev. Wendell Henline, pastor. Burial will be in the Prairie View Cemetery. Friends may call at the Estel-Perrin Funeral Home until 10 a.m. Wednesday.
