ESTHER GRALNEK

MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa - Esther Gralnek, 89, of Marshalltown died Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2001, of complications following a heart attack. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today at Mount Carmel Cemetery in Sioux City. Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.

Miss Gralnek was born March 7, 1911, in Marshalltown, the daughter of Tuba and Kolman Gralnek. She graduated from Marshalltown High School and attended the University of Iowa for two years and returned home when her mother died in 1929. She worked for two years for a sports wear company in California during World War II, and then returned to become bookkeeper and business manager for Gralnek Motors. She also owned and operated a store selling maternity clothing and women's uniforms in downtown Marshalltown.

Survivors include a sister, Tillie Gralnek of Marshalltown; and many nieces and nephews.
