While attending a picnic at Anson Park, Mrs. Alice Rook, 87, became ill and was taken to the Evangelical Hospital Tuesday where she died on arrival. Born Dec. 7, 1867 in Renault, Ill., the daughter of George and Catherine Wilson, she was graduated from the Redbud, Ill., High School and attended Northern Illinois Teachers College at Normal. Later she taught school in southern Illinois. ON APRIL 27, 1892, she was married to William Rook in St. Louis, Mo. They lived in Illinois until 1918 when they moved to Marshalltown. Mrs. Rook is survived by four children, Miss Ina Rook, Mrs. Gilbert Lutes, Gilman; H. W., Princeton, Minn.; and Roy M., Cedar Rapids. Also surviving are five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, who died in 1945, a brother and two half-sisters. SHE WAS A member of the Central Christian Church and the Loyal Women's Bible class. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday from the Pursel-Davis Funeral Home. In the absence of Rev. Orval Walker, the Rev. R. Park Anderson will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home.
