MRS. BALLARD DIES TUESDAY

Mrs. Frank Ballard, 77, 302 N. 4th Avenue, died at the State University Hospital in Iowa City, Tuesday at 9 a.m. Born in Indiana, June 25, 1878, Mrs. Ballard was the daughter of Wesley and Sara Hinshaw Pickering. She was married Sept. 30, 1896 in Albion and lived in Marshalltown since 1919. Survivors include the widower; two sons, Harry, Boone, and Virgil; two daughters, Mrs. Hazel Mertz, Los Angeles, Calif., and Mrs. Ethel Roberts, St. Joseph, Mo.; a sister, Mrs. Edna Umber, Oklahoma; a brother, Dolth Pickering, Osceola, Mo.; eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Services will be from the Avey Funeral Home, 2 p.m. Thursday, with the Rev. M. E. Parlotz officiating.
